
Four classes (12 credit hours) are needed to earn the Graduate Certificate in Information Assurance from Regis University. Courses are chosen from the available electives in the Regis University Master of Science in Information Assurance program and can be selected to match a particular area of interest or career goal. Under a normal course load, either the online or on-campus program can be completed in less than a year.
MSIA 670 Information Enterprise Assurance (3 credit hours) This course introduces the basic Information Assurance (IA) model covering database, application, and system security. Current security standards, best practices, and auditing strategies will also be explored.
MSIA 672 Managing a Secure Enterprise (3 credit hours) Ongoing information security throughout an entire organization is the focus of this course, with an emphasis on physical security, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity planning.
MSIA 674 Planning/Implementing Architecture Security (3 credit hours) Within a corporate information system, this course explores security policy development, implementation, and standards compliance. Complete enterprise security over telecommunications systems and wireless data networks will also be analyzed.
MSIA 676 Securing & Protecting: Systems, Applications, Data (3 credit hours) Strategies for risk analysis, security policy, intrusion detection, damage control, and assessment are the focus of this course, with an emphasis on building and protecting enterprise infrastructure and proprietary data.
MSIA 678 Risk Management (3 credit hours) This course prepares students to evaluate an organization's exposure to information technology security threats. Rigorous security policies and standards-based analysis are used to judge existing security systems and create an actionable threat-matrix.
MSIA 680 Computer Forensics (3 credit hours) Students in this course will explore the legal and technical challenges to the investigation of computer components and digital evidence with hands-on exercises and theoretical experience.
MSIA 682 Network Forensics (3 credit hours) Investigating computer networks is the focus of this course as students will employ a sophisticated set of tools, techniques, and legal policies to enhance the results of network investigations. Established concepts, existing methodology, and emerging tools will also be examined.
MSIA 684 IT Auditing (3 credit hours) This course combines technical knowledge with accounting skill and regulatory awareness to establish auditing best practices to protect organizational assets. Current government reporting standards will be reviewed, including Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
